7/8 Report Cards & Interviews

     ONLINE BOOKING  Gr 7-8 report cards will be distributed on Thursday, Feb 16.  Gr 7-8 Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on Wednesday, Feb 22.

High school examinations schedule will be as follows:

Tuesday exam will be written on Wednesday Jan 25th
Wednesday exam will be written on Thursday Jan 26th
Thursday exam will be written on Friday Jan 27th
Friday exam will be written on the following Tuesday (Jan 31st)

Monday Jan 30 will remain a PD Day for all students.

Please note:

In general, in the event of a “snow day” where yellow school bus transportation is cancelled during the high school exam period, the missed exam will be written the following day.  All other exams will be bumped by one day and the last exam, scheduled for Friday, January 27th will be written on Tuesday, January 31st.  Classes for Semester Two will then begin on Wednesday, February 1st.


Monday, January 30th remains a PD day whether or not there is a 'snow day' during exam week.

The School Council is hosting its annual Trivia Night fundraiser, so get your team together and come out for a very fun evening!  Tickets are $20 and may be purchased through School Cash Online or in the main office.  Tables can accommodate teams of 8 to 10 people.  Doors open at
6:30pm and pizza is included in the price of your ticket.  Games begin at 7pm.  This an adult only event. For further information please contact Lisa Crack 613-837-0023 or

William Dunstan, Grade 11, wins Fraser Institute Essay Contest

Each year, the Fraser Institute invites high school students to participate in an essay contest, showcasing their ideas on public policy and the role of markets. Winning essays are published in Fraser Institute journals and authors have the opportunity to experience the peer review process.

The 2016 Essay Topic was Small change – Big impact: Improving quality of life one policy change at a time

This year, the winning essay was written by St. Matthew student, William Dunstan.  William, grade 11, was awarded first place for his essay about Repealing the Indian Act , which has been published in the winter 2017 issue of the Canadian Student Review (see link below ).

Mitten Tree Donations

In keeping with tradition, students and staff are invited to help decorate the Christmas "Mitten Trees" located in the student and office foyers.  We are collecting gently used or new mittens, gloves, toques and scarves to help keep little hands and heads warm this winter.  The collection will run all week and end next Wednesday, December 21st, 2016.  
All donations will be delivered to the Snowsuit Fund.
